Mr. Rich is the worst kind of fatuous blowhard and liberals should have the good sense to completely write him off. His re-write of history concerning Al Gore and his Presidential run in 2000 works well with the morons at Imus in the morning, but it will only hurt liberals and Democrats to pay any attention to self-important liars like Mr. Rich. Remember, by the way, that Gore won the popular vote and that by all reasonable assessments he would have won Florida if the whole state had been recounted. Also, the vast majority of criticism of Gore's campaign by fellow Democrats at the time was that he ran as too populist and too liberal.
This "relying on consultants" stuff is just current revisionism by people who are feeling a little gulty about the 2000 result. As well they should.
Where was Mr. Rich in 1999-2000 ? Cheering on the complete mispresentation of Al Gore that the press engaged in.
Gore did not run a brilliant campaign in 2000. But the non-stop lunacy about Gore and Love Canal, Gore inventing the internet, Gore and Love Story, Gore and the Buddhist monks, etc. this all came from such "liberal" bastions as the NY Times. Mr. Rich still owes Al Gore an apology for lying about him and the Love Story story.
When he has recanted, we can start listening to him again. Until then, just shut up and go away Mr. Rich, go away.

Gore won before, but couldn't defeat the U.S. Supreme Court. Maybe we should call him,"The Comeback Kid"?

I like several of the other likely candidates that would get my vote rather than letting the Republicans did us deeper in the hole -- at home and globally -- but Gore's new image makes him gleam brightly in center stage for the Democrats now.

Raw Truth Hurts and Frank Rich is raw in this piece. Thanks Rich! While I'd like to be romantic about Mr. Gore running again.

I have to be reality based. I have been a Gore fan since his first run. He's always been ideologically in my realm. Global Warming, Ecology, Health Care Views, Foreign Policy, and much much more.

The Reluctant Stateman IS our last Best hope to turn this planet back around as best we can. To start the healing process around that world with other nations. We cannot be alone in this global atmosphere.

Washington didn't want to be President because of the awesome responsibility, but he did for the Nation.

AND I say remember the old statement; Abraham Lincoln could not have been elected in today's Television ladened land. Lincoln's substance and courage would have been lost in his physical "Ugliness"

As far as what carries over on the Tele, well lets face it. Bush charmed people. "I'd like to have a beer with him" and look what we got. An adminstration that is brilliant at electing "ANYONE". But raping the country with it's inability to actually manage anything.

I'm hoping against hope that Al Gore will run anyway.
